Most insurance companies DO NOT require pre-authorization or referral for mental health counseling. Because of this you can reach out to us directly and you do not need a referral from a physician.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOR THE FIRST SESSION?
Before your first session your therapist will have emailed you intake paperwork. This paperwork is to be completed before the date of your first session.
During your first session your therapist will review your intake paperwork and discuss what your goals are for therapy.
HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?
Most sessions are 50-55 minutes in duration. However, sessions can be shortened or extended based on therapist availability and client need.
WILL I RECEIVE A DIAGNOSIS?
Most insurance companies require a clinical diagnosis in order to reimburse for mental health services. Your clinician will work with you to determine the appropriate diagnosis. If you choose to not file insurance, or do not have insurance, a diagnosis may or may not be necessary for treatment.
WHAT IF I NEED MEDICATION?
Currently C1C does not have the ability to prescribe or advise medication. If you feel you may benefit from medication in addition to psychotherapy, your clinician will provide a referral for a local clinician able to prescribe medication as they see need.
HOW OFTEN WILL I MEET WITH MY THERAPIST?
Most clients beginning therapy meet weekly with a provider, then taper to less frequent sessions. Of course each client is unique and has diverse needs. You and your therapist will discuss what frequency is suggested given several factors including but not limited to; client need, therapist availability, client schedule, and client financial limitations.
